I'm batty as fuck, and tend to express this characteristic frequently and publicly. As for this blog, expect an eclectic jumble of reblogged goodies of extremely varied origins and personal creations of artsy, writerly, or musicy natures (in the Made By Yours Truly section). You should be my friend and we should do stupid shit together. I'm totally an enabler that way.Made By Yours Truly
this makes me so sad.
speaking as someone from minnesota even in the twin cities (arguably one of the more progressive areas in the state) abstinence was covered and actual sexual education was GLOSSED, if anything. everyone was given an essay to do and perform for the class so the teachers didnt take any liability and then we had to have a rape seminar because one of the men in our class kept arguing that rape didnt exsist just to piss everyone off. so yeah sex ed mandated can mean a lot of things. I still learned more from FF.net than I ever did in school and I find that to be a little screwy
From Indiana: We got a week’s worth of abstinence talk in 8th grade, then a week’s worth of abstinence talk sophomore year, with an STD slideshow included. Depending on what class you were in (FACS in 7th grade, Child Development in high school), you had to carry around one of those robot babies for three days. No talk of contraceptives, not talk of how babies are actually made, no talk of rape. I, too, learned more about sex from reading fanfiction than from my public school health classes.
The bad news: I can and will fall asleep at the drop of a hat in the midst of even the most fascinating conversations or uncomfortable circumstances.
The good news: My childhood was a bounty of sleepovers which have trained me in the ways of providing mild affirmations and empathetic responses even while in the first and second phases of sleep.
Boys’ Night by Max Landis and AP Quatch
what the fuck this was so good
This is a really great comic, please read it.
THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD.
I already plugged this over at my art tumblr, but seriously, if you haven’t read this, it’s amazing. It’s like 28 pages and has more characterization and subtext and implied backstory than I can imagine cramming into a comic twice this length.
I read “Boys’ Night” about a month ago and still can’t stop thinking about it, especially the last 6 or so pages.
Mickey and co. need to be in the public domain now.
I don’t know what I thought this was going to be but whatever I thought I was wrong and I’m glad
but people who get all ‘think of the children!’ when you mention putting queer characters in kids shows piss me off so much
because I am thinking of the children
the queer children who are living in a world that tells them they are wrong at every turn, that denies their existence and refuses to allow them a happy ending
I’m thinking of those children
Miss Frizzle and Mary Poppins, Lady Time Lords.
I ship it to the moon.
The Teacher and The Nanny. The Magic School Bus is a TARDIS, and Mary’s bag is bigger on the inside. No one will ever convince me that this is not true. Oh, and I ship it.
For crying out loud, the Magic School Bus actually does travel through time and space, easily changes it’s form like a Chameleon Circuit, and is casually ALIVE in certain ways. It’s a friggin’ TARDIS in all but name!
Anyone who has ever said the doctor could not be a woman has literally never seen either of these characters in action.
has anyone ever stopped to think about what ridiculous animals goats are
WHAT THE FUCK
HOW DID YOU EVEN GET UP THERE
ARE THESE ANIMALS EVEN REAL
????? ?? ? ???????//
SOMEONE FUCKING EXPLAIN THIS SHIT TO ME
